Winnebago County, Illinois Sheriff's Detective Michael E. Mayborne.
Detective Mayborne was shot and killed in the line of duty
while apprehending bank robbery suspects on March 15, 1974.
This site is in honor of Mike's service in law enforcement
his friendship and love as a father, loving husband and close friend.
The friends and family of Detective Mayborne must continue to fight for his honor and sacrifice each year preventing his murderer from seeking early parole on a 124 year murder sentence.

June 24th, 2010:
Theodore Bacino has been ordered by the Illinois Prisoner Review Board to spend at least another 3 years behind bars denying his 2010 parole request. The family and friends of Detective Mike Mayborne wish to thank everyone who helped in our effort this year demanding justice for Mike Mayborne.

Winnebago County unveils 9-11 Memorial "Always Remember - Never Forget" to be located on the Justice Center property, 650 W. State, Rockford. Made from donated World Trade Center steel it will honor the worst attack on US soil along with honoring local law enforcement, firefighters and first responders that have fallen in the line of duty. All costs for construction is from private donations.
