Terry, I am thinking of you and your girls. If it wasn't for Mike and you Steve and I would not have our wonderful son Eric. Mike is always in my heart, you are always in my thoughts. Your friend, Donna

I am a Winnebago County Sheriff's Deputy. Mike did many great things for our department, and I wished that I would've got the chance to meet Mike. He was a great asset to our department, and made many things possible for us. RIP Mike, and my thoughts and prayers are with your family. I signed the petition, and have signed the petition every year since I started working in the jail. I hope that everyone that visits this site will do the same.

As I was looking through the pictures I saw a picture of my grandfather, Charles Runyard, with Mike and another deputy. My grandfather was a friend of Mikes and he was working that day in Loves Park when the shooting took place. I believe he was even on scene shortly afterwords. Our prayers are with you as you go through this time again.

I am truely sorry for the family to have to endure the repeated attempts to get this man out of jail. I can only imagine the feelings of his immediate family going on with out him.

A TRUE HERO...May you rest in peace and forever be a Guardian Angel over those who love you for eternity. I will sign the Petition every time, support your family and friends and pray that God allows this scum who took you away, to 'reap what he has sown'.

May Robert Lower stay behind bars forever. Canyon Camp is a great place, may it's dignity be restored forever. To the Didier family: The community and the Stockton area are behind you all the way. Every time he is denied parole it's another notch for the Didier family.

On March 15, 1974, I was working at the Boone County Sheriff's Department as a deputy sheriff. We received a call from Winnebago County the day before that there were two spots open for the Traffic Institute being held in Rockford the next day. In those days, we only had two officers on duty each day (one North of Orth Rd. and one South) plus a supervisor and the Sheriff. So we had the offer that one of the Winnebago County Officers would be in the area and could backup or even handle calls if necessary. I was one of the officers from Boone County that was in class when we heard about Mike. We stopped class and all went to the hospital. I watched the doctors work on Bacino as they covered Mike with a sheet. There was not a dry eye in the place. It was my call to the Poplar Grove Bank that he took. I would have been the North car. It says in scripture that "No greater love has a man than to lay down his life for a friend". That is what Mike did for me....for us. I pray for him every day and have tried to make a positive difference in this world based on the fact that I am still here because Mike took my place. We always search for heroes in our country and we make them "bigger than life". In Mike's case, he would be embarrassed to be made to be a hero. Yet he was and still is in my book. Thanks Mike. Thanks for everything.
