I am a Winnebago County Sheriff's Deputy. Mike did many great things for our department, and I wished that I would've got the chance to meet Mike. He was a great asset to our department, and made many things possible for us. RIP Mike, and my thoughts and prayers are with your family. I signed the petition, and have signed the petition every year since I started working in the jail. I hope that everyone that visits this site will do the same.

As I was looking through the pictures I saw a picture of my grandfather, Charles Runyard, with Mike and another deputy. My grandfather was a friend of Mikes and he was working that day in Loves Park when the shooting took place. I believe he was even on scene shortly afterwords. Our prayers are with you as you go through this time again.

I am truely sorry for the family to have to endure the repeated attempts to get this man out of jail. I can only imagine the feelings of his immediate family going on with out him.
