Kimberly's Corner:

About Kim:

Kim was 4 years old on the day her father was killed. Everytime you saw Mike he was carrying his young daughters. He loved them so much. Kimberly simply beamed with excitement and joy at the sight of her Dad. She would run full blast and jump into his arms when he walked in the door. She too, lost years of knowing her Dad and countless wonderful memories.

Kim's 2007 letter to the Illinois Prisoner Review Board:

April 3, 2007

Dear Parole Board Member,

My name is Kimberly (Mayborne) Spehar, I am the oldest daughter of Michael Mayborne.

I have so far lived a full and wonderful life. I have a loving husband and 3 great children. But there’s always been a piece of me missing.

How can you talk about something you only had for a very short time at a young age. I have no memory of him (my Dad). I only know what friends and family tell me about him, it brings some comfort, but there will always be a void.

Looking at the scrapbooks always brings tears, and to answer questions from my children is difficult. For 33 years my heart aches, not knowing if I have his eyes, because I’ll never see them or, if we have the same hands, I’ll never feel them hug me. They say he was a great teacher, but he never got to help me thru school and I never got to know his wisdom.

My children visit their Grandma, spend time and have fun with her. A cold metal & stone in the earth is where they visit their Grandpa. Mr. Bacino, took away my Dad, birthdays, holidays, weddings, walking me down the aisle for my wedding and seeing his first grandchild. Taking me and my sister to the zoo and all the other little things Dad’s do for their children. Mr. Bacino made ME a victim not by my choice!! He had a choice that day to do what was right, but instead choose to do the wrong thing.

He created a long line of victims, including his own family, but at least they could visit him, and talk with him.

Just once, I would Love to throw my arms around my Dad, kiss him on the cheek, tell him I LOVE HIM.

Thank you,
Sincerely,

Kim Mayborne Spehar, Victim of Violence

About Jen:
Jennifer was only 2 years old when her father was killed. Theodore Bacino robbed not only a bank that day, but an entire lifetime of wonderful memories between Jenny and her Dad.

In Jennifer's moving interview with Chicago Tribune reporters she made a strong statement that defines our entire fight and cause to defend the memory of Officer Mike Mayborne. A statement not only fitting for our cause but for all victims of violent crimes. She told reporters, "Inmate Bacino can go home when her father can come home". Letter from Jennifer to Illinois Prisoner Review Board Chairman:

Dear Mr. Jorge Montes and the Members of the Prisoner Review Board,

My name is Jennifer K. Mayborne-Sutkay, I am the daughter of slain Winnebago County Sheriff Detective Michael E. Mayborne. My father was killed in the line of duty by Theodore Bacino prisoner C#02070.

As a victim of crime and having to face this parole protest process once again, especially knowing that the Prisoner Review Board has a personal cheerleading squad (Chairman Jorge Montes, Geraldine Tyler have publicly advocated release) for Theodore Bacino to be released from prison, It deflates the hope and joy a new year brings to our family. It creates burning heartache knowing that I have to battle to keep this man in prison for crimes he chose to commit, crimes that he chose not to think of how it would affect others and his own family. Theodore Bacino has taken away a family jewel, a father, a grandfather, an uncle, and a son. He continues to keep taking away from our family with the parole hearings and his effort to be released from prison.

If you are so adamant on releasing Theodore Bacino then you would not mind telling Michael Mayborne’s grandchildren, daughters, father, wife, sister, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and fellow friends and police officers, the victims of his previous crimes, (who are all still available) face to face, why you believe he should be released and make them understand his "REFORM".

Theodore Bacino should have put this much thought into not committing the crimes, as much thought as he does trying to get out of the punishment he received for killing my father. If Mr. Bacino did not want to serve prison time, then he should not have committed the crimes. I have to make decisions everyday and deal with the consequences for those choices. Where is my cheerleading squad to get me out of a bad choice I made???????

I strongly oppose parole for Theodore Bacino. He is a man who of CLEAR MIND, committed crime, after crime, after crime. His health is that of a 70+ year old man , typical ailments and problems that my Grandfather, Les Mayborne has. Mr. Madison, at the 2007 Enbanc hearing I attended, laughs and states: What is he going to do, "Hold up the pigs and cows??????" I ask you this: Is Mr. Bacino still able to walk, talk, hold a handful of playing cards, make a gambling bet, walk into a convenience store, walk into a neighbor’s house, and hold a weapon in his hand????? Then he is still able to go back to a lifestyle he had many chances to leave behind before ultimately killing my father.

As a matter of fact he has not changed his ways yet, he is still gambling to this day. He places his bet on a lawyer, he get his cards from the deck of false stories, and prays he gets the full house from the prisoner review board.
